Haringey Council and media reporting restrictions
Any articles in the press or other media that suggest that the council took legal steps to protect its own position concerning the Baby Peter case misrepresent the purpose of the council's actions. The actions undertaken by the council in the courts, which were notified to the press and other media, were taken in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children involved in the case. Haringey has not sought and have never sought any Reporting Restriction Orders in relation to the role of the council in the Baby Peter matter.
