Family Learning
Family Learning courses are about parents/carers and children learning together. Courses help parents/carers to understand what their children are learning at school.
The classes are educational and great fun.
Family Learning courses aim to:
- Help parents/carers develop the skills and confidence necessary to support their children’s learning
- Allow parents/carers to be directly involved in their children’s learning through working together in a structured session, using books, games and other resources
- Look at the vocabulary of the school world, and understand Literacy and Numeracy strategies
- Help parents/carers with ICT, Basic Skills and ESOL needs. They can gain accreditation, and receive advice by Adult Guidance Advisers as to appropriate progression pathways:
- Family Numeracy (40 hours)
- Family Numeracy workshops (2 hours)
- Family Literacy (40 or 80 hours)
- Family Literacy workshops (2 hours)
- Keeping up with the Children (24 or 40 hours)
- Family Art
- Here We Grow in partnership with Sure Start
- Family Drama
- Family Music
