Choice-based lettings: Home Connections Scheme

The only way to apply for a residential council house managed by Homes for Haringey or a housing association property, is through Haringey's new choice-based lettings scheme, Home Connections.
Assured Short Term Letting (AST): Rent Deposit Scheme
This scheme is for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and on a low income.
It offers one month's rent in advance and a cash deposit for landlords. Applicants must locate their own property and find a landlord willing to accept Housing Benefit. Advice is offered on Housing Benefit applications and there are referrals to furniture schemes. For more information please contact 020 8489 4309 quoting the Rent Deposit Scheme.

Assured Short Term Letting (AST): Various Schemes
These schemes allow families or individuals to have a choice of good quality, well-managed, private sector accommodation. There is a wide selection of properties across the borough of Haringey.
If you are accepted on to the scheme, you will not have to pay the first month's rent nor the deposit. For more details please contact 020 8489 4726.

Haringey Council has several low-cost ownership schemes to help anyone who would like to buy their own property, particularly first-time buyers, wait-list applicants, council tenants and key workers
- View the Buying a Home section for more information.
Renting a private property
The sheer demand for council housing outperforms the supply, which means we are increasingly looking at the private rental market as an option for our tenants.
Haringey Council is working hard with private landlords to improve standards of private properties throughout the borough.

We have been working on a new Lettings Policy since August 2006 and after undertaking a major consultation with a wide variety of individuals and groups, it is now completed. You can download a copy in the attached files section below.
