Grants for Landlords

Financial assistance is available from the council to assist property owners in the private sector to bring long-term empty properties back in to use. This assistance is discretionary and dependent on funding.

Empty Property Grants

Due to a change in the system for allocating money from central government for empty properties, this year there is no money available for empty property grants in Haringey.

Decent Homes Grants

A decent homes grant provides financial assistance to qualifying applicants. A property has to fail the decent homes standard in order to qualify for financial assistance. Grants are currently available to vulnerable owner occupiers who are in receipt of one of the following means tested benefits:

Income support
Housing benefit
Council tax benefit
Income based job seekers allowance
Attendance allowance
Disability living allowance
Industrial injuries disablement benefit
War disablement pension
Pension credit
Working tax credit which includes disability element (income less than £14,200)
Child tax credit which includes disability element (income less than £14,200)

Disabled Facilities Grants

Disabled Facility Grants are also available to qualifying residents. Applicants must be assessed by an occupational therapist as part of the grant application process. Disabled facility grants are administered through Adult Social Care within the Adult Culture and Community Service who you can contact on 020 8489 1603 to arrange an initial assessment.

Warm Front Grant

This is a national scheme funded by Central Government to assist those deemed to be vulnerable with heating and insulating their properties.
