Empty Properties

If you are a private owner and have an empty residential property you want to bring back into use we can offer you information and advice. We can advise you on repairing your property, getting planning permission, applying for grants and finding private finance to repair your property.

Grants

Grants are given by the council to bring properties up to a reasonable standard. They are generally discretionary, which means that the council decides on how grants should be targeted. Haringey is targeting some grants to bring empty properties back into use.

Empty property grants

There are conditions attached these grants. For example, the property must have been empty for six months or a year, depending on its location. The grant will cover up to 50% of the eligible works cost and the owner must agree to take a council nominated person as a tenant for five years.

Other grants

There is limited money available for renovation grants, common parts grants and grants for houses in multiple occupation. These grants are given on a discretionary basis. There are also disabled facilities grants which are mandatory. For further information on these grants contact:
