Closures and Diversions

Sometimes works on the highway, or some large deliveries, require a road to be closed temporarily to general traffic. Such closures require a traffic regulation order issued by the highway authority.

How to apply

• Apply online - Request a temporary traffic management order for a road closure or street party
• Download and print an application form (see attached files section)
  • Your completed form should be mailed to the address shown below.

Please note: As there is a legal and consultative process to be undertaken, at least 6 weeks notice of closure is required.  In the case of an emergency, please contact us on Tel 020 8489 1763.

Costs

All costs involved for both the closure and diversion signing will have to be met by the person requesting the closure.

Road Closures

The following sums will be charged:

• For emergency temporary restrictions and road closure requests - £250
• For all other temporary restrictions and road closure requests - £1500

Street Party

The Council makes a charge of £60 to cover administration fees.
