Your Application
If you are seeking an address for a new property or would like to change the name and or number of an existing property, you should apply in writing to the address below, enclosing a site plan. The application form is also available for download from the bottom of this page.

Choosing a Name
The Council is happy for developers and residents to propose their own preferred names for consideration. However it is recommended that applicants submit more than one suggestion in case one fails to meet the criteria outlined in the guidelines for street and building naming and numbering.

Try to choose an address which will be:

  • unique
  • unambiguous
  • logical
  • and has a connection with the area

It is important that you read through the guidelines carefully before making your selection.

Received Applications
We will consult the emergency services and a few internal Council Departments. If your proposals comply with the Council’s policy on street naming and numbering and do not meet with any objections, the new address will be formally allocated. We will notify you and all relevant bodies, including the Royal Mail, who are responsible for allocating post codes.
