About the Community Clear Ups Service
- We will collect up to 15 bulky items from households with front gardens free of charge at least once a year (see below for what items can be collected).
- We will drop a leaflet through your letterbox about a week before the service arrives to confirm the date of your Clear Up.
- To find out when your Community Clear Up will take place please use the online search tool, to which you will find a link in the When will my community clear up take place? section at the bottom of this page. Please note that this may be subject to change and final notification will be by means of a leaflet delivered through your door.
What we will collect
The Council will collect up to 15 items from each household.
We can accept:
- Household and garden furniture
- Mattresses and carpet
- Wooden items - must be broken down into pieces no longer than 1.5 metres (5 foot) and be bundled together
- Electrical appliances, excluding the items listed below, which can be collected free at any time
We do not collect the following items as part of the Community Clear Up service:
- Fridges and freezers
- Ovens and cookers
- Washing machines, tumble driers and dishwashers
- TV's and IT equipment
- Car batteries
- Gas cylinders
- Tyres
These items have to be collected by a separate vehicle because they may contain hazardous substances or can be reused or recycled. The Council therefore collects these items free of charge, at any time of the year. To arrange a collection please contact the Haringey Enterprise Call Centre on 020 8885 7700 or email haringey.enterprise@enterprise.plc.uk For more information about this free collection service see the bulky items collection webpage.
In addition, we cannot collect:
- Construction and renovation waste, including rubble, masonry and tiles
- Bathroom fittings including sinks, baths and toilet bowls
- Green garden waste
Please note the service can be provided only to those homes that have a front garden area where large and bulky items can be placed out of harms way to passers-by. This means that although your road might be mentioned within the schedule, we cannot guarantee that every home will be able to receive the service.
Leaving items on the pavement is not permitted in any circumstances because this poses risks to pedestrians.
