Dealing with Noise Problems

How can I deal with noise problems?

Don’t suffer in silence. If there is a problem in your neighbourhood then you can do something about it.

1. Talk about it

Although it may sound obvious, simply talking to your neighbours may help the problem. Most people are unaware that they are causing a nuisance and if you don’t tell them, who will?

2. Talk to the council

Talk to the Council

If you feel you can’t approach your neighbours or if there is still a problem talk to the council.

If the noise is disturbing you right now call the Out of Hours Team on 020 8489 1284 or 020 8348 3148 (evenings and weekends) for a response within 1 Hour.

3. Taking your own action

If you want to take your own action through the courts you can. If the noise is persistent it might be a good idea to keep a log of the disturbances. You may wish to use a Noise Diary Log Sheet which is available from the Out of Hours Response Team and on the taking your own action page.
