Greenest Borough Strategy

Greenest Borough Strategy

The Council has agreed exciting plans to help Haringey become one of the greenest boroughs in London. The Greenest Borough Strategy was adopted at a meeting of Full Council on 14 July 2008 and sets out how the Council will take forward actions to tackle climate change and embed environmental sustainability into everything we do.

This follows a comprehensive consultation exercise between November 2007 - January 2008 and a landmark consultation event called 'Going Green' held on 26 January 2008 at the West Green Learning Centre. A summary of the results of the consultation are provided electronically at the bottom of this page.

Activities in the strategy break down into seven priority areas:

  • Improving the urban environment
  • Protecting the natural environment
  • Managing our environmental resources efficiently
  • Leading by example
  • Sustainable Design & Construction
  • Promoting sustainable travel
  • Raising awareness and involvement
