Freedom of Information (FOI)
The Freedom of Information Act (FoI) 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) give people the right to look at much information held by public authorities.
There is a lot of information about the Council on this and other websites, in our libraries and Customer Services Centres, and from reception desks in council buildings. Our Publication Scheme may help you find the information you want online.
If the information you want is not already available, you can make a Freedom of Information Request.
Personal information is protected by the Data Protection Act, so if you (or someone acting on your behalf) wants to access this information, you/they must make a Subject Access Request.

To be covered by the Act, requests for information must be in writing. You may make a Freedom of Information request online or through the Feedback and Information Governance Team. Full details about how we handle FOI requests can be found in our procedure document (see the attached files section below).
Haringey Council will:
- Help you to make your request
- Acknowledge your request within 2 working days
- Give you the information, or the reasons why we can’t, within 20 working days
- Respond within 20 working days to complaints about the information we provided or our failure to provide it.
