Our Chief Executive

Ita O’Donovan, Chief Executive

Ita joined Haringey as Chief Executive in March 2006.

Passionate about public services being of the highest quality, Ita arrived with a challenge to all staff: We’re good, but now we need to be even better.

For Ita that means having a clear focus on our customers and their needs and ensuring money is invested in front line services. Above all, Ita expects all staff to work as one team with everyone playing their part in making Haringey a better place to live.

Ita is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the council, which includes the Chief Executive’s Management Board comprising of service Directors and the Assistant Chief Executives.

Ita arrived at Haringey with more than 20 years of experience working in and with local government. Most recently she was City Manager and Chief Executive of Stoke-on-Trent and prior to that was Deputy Managing Director of neighbouring Hackney. She is Honorary Senior Research fellow at the School of Public Policy, Birmingham University.

Ita moved to the borough after her appointment, where she lives with her husband.
