The Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) Scheme Details

The Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) is a Government funding programme available to 86 local authorities in England with the 10% most deprived wards. Eight of Haringey’s wards are within the 10% most deprived and include:

  • Bruce Grove
  • Noel Park
  • Northumberland Park
  • Seven Sisters
  • St Ann’s
  • Tottenham Green
  • Tottenham Hale
  • White Hart Lane

The NRF is being used in Haringey to improve services and narrow the gap between the most deprived areas and the rest of the borough. This is done by focussing the NRF on priorities within the Haringey Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy (HNRS) and the national deprivation related floor targets.

The NRF and the Haringey Strategic Partnership

The NRF in Haringey is administered and approved by the Haringey Strategic Partnership (HSP). The HSP allocates the funding to the various Theme Boards who then make project recommendations for the HSP’s approval. The Theme Boards include:

  • Safer Communities
  • Liveability
  • Economic Growth
  • Children and Young People
  • Well Being
  • Neighbourhoods and Capacity

The HSP’s thematic priorities for the NRF are crime, environment and youth. In addition, the Government has highlighted crime reduction, improving performance at Key Stage 3 and reducing teenage pregnancy as key areas where Haringey needs to do better. Project recommendations from the Theme Boards must address these targets wherever possible.

The NRF in Haringey is a very successful programme and all the projects are up and running and are making an impact. The Government Office for London has commended the HSP for its management of the NRF programme.
