Getting Involved

We are always looking for ways to improve your parks and open spaces. Whether that's through physical improvements, having your say in how the parks are managed or improving safety so people can relax and enjoy the parks, we constantly seek your help and involvement.

Friends Groups bring together local people, all sharing a passion for their local park. They are an integral part of managing and improving the parks so why not have your say and join your local group? Or if a Friends Group doesn't currently exist, we can offer help,advice and support on how to get one up and running.

A new partnership between the police and council to improve safety in parks and target police resources to where they are most needed has been established. The Community Neighbourhood Watch addresses local issues, by involving local people.

For more hands on, practical improvements conservation charity TCV (The Conservation Volunteers - previously known as BTCV) run conservation volunteer workdays, educational activities and other projects in parks and open spaces so why not get out there and have a go? TCV also offer help to local community groups such as advice on setting up a Friends group or offering a tool lending scheme.

And the borough's Tree Warden Scheme offers practical training and opportunities to those wanting to enhance the boroughs tree population and help identify problems. Tree Wardens are community volunteers working closely with council tree officers and the Tree Trust for Haringey.
