Young carers
Young carers are children and young people who care for an adult, for example, a sick or disabled parent or sibling.
This means you probably have serious caring responsibilities at home. You may be doing housework, cooking and shopping for your family. You may need to bathe siblings or parents. But you also need to attend school, perhaps with a lack of understanding from schoolmates.
If this describes some of the things you have to do, and you are aged between 5 and 18, contact the NCH Haringey Young Carers Project.
The project offers:
- someone to listen to you
- advice and support
- the chance to meet other young carers
- trips and activities
- people who are trained to act on your behalf
- help with money
- guidance on what to do in an emergency
- information about how to cope with illness and disability
- the opportunity to discuss your needs and what support you might need.
