Haringey Heartbeat

A series of events celebrating Haringey’s Children and Young People from Friday 20 June to Friday 4 July.

Haringey is the most culturally diverse place in the UK. Our children speak 190 languages between them

Every year they achieve higher standards than the year before. Haringey Heartbeat is about our children and young people knowing, understanding and celebrating each other’s cultural heritage.

Boxercise - 4 July 2pm
The aim of the Boxercise course is to use exercise to increase focus, motivation and concentration. The course is organised by a learning mentor and external provider.
This event is open to 5 Year 6 students.

Play Performance - 19 June 9.45am
Year 5 and 6 pupils will perform two short plays (Greek myths), which have been prepared in drama club.
This is a joint event between Rhodes Avenue, Earlham and Nightingale Primary.

Summer ‘Celebration’ Concert - 9 July 2pm and 10 July, 9.30am
This is Belmont’s annual summer concert, with the fitting theme of ‘Celebration’. Pupils will sing songs to do with their achievements, talents, families, culture and school. The concert will include every child from Year 2 – Nursery.
This event is open to the families of Belmont pupils.

These events celebrate the achievement of all pupils at Belmont Juniors in partnership with the Vale Special School. This event is open to 15 visiting pupils.

Blanche Nevile School - Secondary, Burlington Road, N10 1NJ

Year 11 Leaver Evening - 25 June, 6.30-8.30pm
An evening of celebration to mark the end of Key Stage 4. This will include speeches by staff, the giving out of an ‘Advice’ booklet written by year 11 students on how to succeed in Year 11, to our Year 10 students. In addition, Year 11 students will be talking about their school experiences and will then be presented with their personal leavers photo/comment books. This will be followed by a slide show, highlighting elements of Year 11’s school experiences at BNS and a social with a BBQ.

A class of KS4 ASD students will participate in a communication session in class using various communication aids including P.E.C.S., signing and Writing with Symbols.

Safe Cycling - 30 June 11am – 12noon
Many of our young people have made outstanding achievements in bicycle and tricycle riding. To celebrate this we will have a one hour cycling session in Moselle Upper School’s playground. (ages 12-16 learning difficulties).

School Band Performance  -24 June 1.45pm and 2.45pm (30 mins)
Moselle School band will perform 3 numbers to a small audience who appreciate both heavy rock and rap styles of music. Anyone interested in watching a musical performance by teenagers with learning disabilities and/or autism.

Inclusive drumming at William C Harvey, with Broadwater Farm Infants and Moselle and WCH. An exciting and powerful weekly workshop where children across a broad spectrum of needs get together to play drums, percussion and sing African songs.

Seven Sisters Primary, South Grove, N15 5QE

Wing Chun Kung Fu and Tai Chi - Wednesdays and Fridays from 11.30am - 12.30pm
Seven Sisters Wing Chun Kung Fu and Tai Chi martial arts sessions are designed to help children develop their focus, self esteem, self control and fitness. Each student embarks upon a syllabus that is challenging yet achievable and gets the chance to test his/her mindset, body and spirit. This is for Year 4 and 5 students.

Primary Enterprise Challenge - 4 July 9am - 2pm
As part of their Enterprise Week, Woodside High hosts an Enterprise competition involving four of its Partner Schools – Lordship Lane, Devonshire Hall, Broadwater Farm and Earlham School. Each Primary School will be supported through Hearing Educations Business Partnership in a number of enterprise competitions in their school and the winning team will represent their school in the final Dragons Den-style competition. This is a joint school event.

Powerful Voices Conference

20 June - Cypriot Centre
The aim of this conference, which will be attended by a significant number of children with disabilities and special educational needs, is for Year 5,6, & & pupils is to raise their awareness of inclusion and diversity and to extend pupil voice. Two pupil representatives from each Haringey school will attend and take part in a range of discussions and fun activities throughout the day. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Places where I Learn and Play'.

Tottenham Carnival

21 June - Bruce Castle Park, Lordship Lane, N17 8NU
Now in it’s 11th year. All-day festival with five sound stages, funfair and all-weather activities for young and older.
Carnival procession departs from Eade Road N4 at 11am, arriving at Bruce Castle Park at about 1pm. This year sees the Tottenham Community Festival and Carnival as part of the new Lee Valley Festival with activities taking place on and around the River Lea.

MASSIVE celebration

26 June - 7pm - 8.45pm - Alexandra Palace, Palace Way, N22 7AY
This year’s MASSIVE will bring together approx 1200 primary school children who have been learning through the Whole Class Instrumental Teaching programme for an extraordinary gala concert.
The concert is aimed at parents, schools and the public.

This award ceremony will celebrate the outstanding merits of children and young people’s positive contribution to their own lives, the lives of their families and the wider community.
