Child Poverty Strategy
Living on a low income impacts the daily lives of children and their families. The experience of poverty in childhood can be highly damaging and its consequences can be felt into adult life. Because of this, tackling child poverty is a key priority for Haringey Council and its partners.
This page outlines details of Haringey's approach to tackling child poverty in the borough.
Child Poverty Strategy 2012-15
We are currently developing a new strategy, which will run from 2012 to 2015.Our vision for this new strategy is to ensure that:
"children do not live in poverty, and that they are given the opportunity to live safe, happy, healthy, successful and fulfilling lives."
We know that the financial climate will have a big impact on how we do this and this strategy seeks to agree a way of doing so in a time of fewer resources.

In 2008 the Haringey Strategic Partnership adopted a Child Poverty Strategy and action plan to ensure that council services and local partners work together in a joined up way to reduce child poverty in the borough and ensure that today’s children do not become the parents of poor children tomorrow.
The Strategy built on existing strategies, such as the Regeneration Strategy and the Children and Young People's Plan, and drew together cross cutting work with the aim of accelerating the pace of lifting children in Haringey out of poverty.
