Adoption explained
Adoption is giving a child a new and permanent family because they cannot be brought up by their own parents. If you adopt a child you become the childs legal parent/s.
Who can apply
You can apply to adopt if you are:
- Married, single or living with a partner
- Gay or straight
- Living in rented accommodation or own your own home (as long as you have a spare room)
What happens next
An adoption social worker will contact you after your initial enquiry to let you know if we can take your interest in adoption further. We will then visit you to discuss adoption in more detail and help you with any further considerations you need to make before making a more formal application to us.
