Statement
The Children's Fund is a government initiative aimed at identifying children and young people in difficulty at an early stage and for voluntary, community and faith organisations to work in partnership with statutory services to make sure that these young people get the support they need to overcome poverty and disadvantage.

Objectives
- To provide the management infrastructure needed to deliver the programme.
- To champion the cause of children and their families in all relevant arenas.
- To engage young people and their families in the development and delivery of the Children’s Fund programme.
- To develop working partnerships between agencies and advise strategic partnerships of lessons learned and ways in which mainstream services could be changed.
- To improve ways in which children can get both universal and specialist services.
Main Functions
The Children's Fund has two main functions
- To ensure that in each area there is an agreed programme of effective interventions that pick up early signs of difficulty, identify needs and to introduce children and young people and their families to appropriate services.
- To ensure that children and young people who have experienced early signs of difficulties receive appropriate services in order to gain maximum life-chance benefits from educational opportunities, health care and social care and to ensure good outcomes for children and young people.
Target Area
The aim is to fund projects that run activities and provide support for young children aged between 5 to 13 who need it the most.
70% of the Children's Fund allocation for Haringey is targeted on the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund wards in the east of the Borough.
