The services currently operating at Winkfield Resource Centre are:

Deaf Drop In/Deaf Support Service

This service offers deaf or hard-of-hearing adults one-to-one confidential support and advice. Staff are qualified to a minimum level of BSL2 to advise on a variety of issues.

The Deaf Focus Group meets regularly to discuss topics and agenda items defined by themselves; suggesting and directing how their services should be run. Haringey Deaf Service currently offers drop in sessions three times a week, providing up to 30 minutes per user.

For further information you can visit the weekly 'Deaf Drop In' on Tuesdays at 12.30pm to 3.30pm and Thursdays at 9.30am to 12.30pm

HIV Drop In

HIV Drop-In service users attend on a weekly basis and self-manage their group. This drop-in includes services from CAB, HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist, Dietician and Housing Adviser. In addition a specialist crèche worker is available, an infant feeding programme for mothers who have no recourse to public funds, and a social work surgery and psychology service run by Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust. The following provision is a direct response to requests from the group:

  • Welfare Rights (via CAB)
  • Social Work Advice and Support
  • Housing Advice
  • HIV Community Nurse Matron (weekly)
  • Infant Feeding Project (via referral for women with no recourse to public funds)
  • There are limited crèche facilities for those who wish to access the services
  • Dietician – (this service is currently in negotiation)
  • CNS - a specialist in relation to working with children and/or adolescents with HIV/AIDS (monthly)
  • Limited laundry facilities
  • Access to the Internet, and refreshments
  • Living Well Programme – Positive Self management: self help support groups run over a 10 week period addressing various aspects of living with HIV.
  • Psychology Services (referrals for counselling) referral for emotional support and psychology, psycho-educational talks / educational programmes
  • Pan African and Caribbean Sexual Health Project (PACSHP)
  • HIV Health Trainer – providing advice and support, with a range of health related issues.

Occupational Therapy Drop In

This is a unique service offering assessment and the provision of equipment to enable independent living, following incidents of physical impairment.

Mondays: 2pm - 5pm

Self Funding Surgery

Services in other boroughs have recently been examined to find a model that suits the demographic factors within Haringey. Although presently in a developmental stage, this service will start in 2010.

Haringey Phoenix Group (for blind and partially sighted people)

A registered charity core-funded by Haringey Council providing activities, services, support and information for blind and partially sighted people in Haringey and the surrounding areas.

Renate Campbell Trust (Job Club for Deaf People)

This service for the profoundly deaf was established in 2006 to combat barriers to employment.

In March 2009 the Trust was accredited with Matrix Standard - the nationally recognised quality mark for organisations providing this type of support.
