Rehabilitation and preventative care

Intermediate care provides rehabilitation and preventative services.

Intermediate care has two purposes:

to help people who have just come out of hospital. We do this by providing short-term care and a programme of rehabilitation which will help people to return to their own home.
to treat people in the community wherever possible to avoid admission into hospital.

We currently have an intermediate care bed unit for older people at Cranwood Residential Home and a number of supported housing flats for people who need short-term accommodation. There is also a team based in our Home Care service which provides short-term services to help people get back on their feet.

Who can use Intermediate Care?

If you are a Haringey resident who would benefit from a concentrated programme of rehabilitation, you may be referred by a professional from the medical or nursing team who is caring for you, either in hospital or in the community.
