Rehabilitation and preventative care

Intermediate care provides rehabilitation and preventative services.

Intermediate care has two purposes:

  • to help people who have just come out of hospital. We do this by providing short-term care and a programme of rehabilitation which will help people to return to their own home.
  • to treat people in the community wherever possible to avoid admission into hospital.

We currently have an intermediate care bed unit for older people at Cranwood Residential Home and a number of supported housing flats for people who need short-term accommodation. There is also a team based in our Home Care service which provides short-term services to help people get back on their feet.

Who can use Intermediate Care?

If you are a Haringey resident who would benefit from a concentrated programme of rehabilitation, you may be referred by a professional from the medical or nursing team who is caring for you, either in hospital or in the community.
