Long term needs of stroke survivors and their carers

Your views and experiences needed

We are actively seeking the views and experiences of stroke survivors and their families / carers.

Recent surveys, both local and national, have highlighted poor understanding of the long-term needs of stroke survivors and their carers.

We have been asking stroke survivors and their carers:

  • What are your long term care and support needs?
  • Are you participating in community life? If not, what barriers do you face?
  • Are you participating in family life?
  • Do you feel you should be subject to a review every year? If so, by whom?
  • Have you returned to work or are you trying to return to work?
  • What other issues are important to you that you would like to discuss?

We sent out a questionnaire in during September 2010 to help us collect this information.

In addition, we held group discussions and interviews in November 2010 to try to understand better the long-term needs of stroke survivors and their families.

Should you require any further information, please contact the Stroke Care Co-ordinator on 020 8442 6981 or email fast.awareness@nhs.net.

If you are interested in this topic you can also come and discuss the issue at our monthly stroke information drop-in sessions.
