Gardening kick-start
A scheme for Haringey's unpaid carers
The purpose of this scheme is to give carers who live with the cared for person a one-off service to kick start their garden and make it a relaxing place to be.
The household must have a commitment to maintain the garden once the work has been done.
Eligibility
The service will only be provided as an outcome of a carer’s assessment where a care manager, care co-ordinator or approved assessor has visited the carer and recommends that this service will benefit the carer’s health and well-being. Carers will be allocated gardening to the value of £200 per household. At present we can only work on two gardens per month.
To qualify for the service, carers must:
- Meet Haringey Council’s eligibility criteria for a carer’s assessment
- Care for someone aged 18 or over who lives in Haringey
- Be aged 18 or over
- Have an interest in bringing their garden back to life.
