Haringey Carers Strategy
The Carers Strategy sets out the overall aims and objectives for carers' services in Haringey.
It has been developed in partnership with carers and recognises that carers are not only the responsibility of social care and health agencies but wider services such as housing, leisure, employment and education.

|back to topHow the Carers Strategy was developed
There were two local consultations in 2007 as part of a programme of public engagement ahead of the launch of the Government’s new National Strategy for Carers which was published in June 2008.
“Carers at the heart of 21st century families and communities: A caring system on your side. A life of your own.” sets out a series of initiatives and some new commitments to help improve the lives of carers. It sets out a vision of what the Government wants to see in place for carers by 2018. You can find it via the external links section below.
We have developed a partnership strategy for supporting carers in Haringey to reflect the aspirations of Haringey carers and the national strategy. It includes the views of all partners, incorporating in the priorities what is most important to local carers. The updated strategy guides how the Council, the NHS and community and voluntary groups provide support for carers of people over 18 who live in Haringey.
