Safeguarding Adults in Haringey
Most people find it difficult to imagine that vulnerable adults and older people are victims of abuse. It is a hidden and often ignored problem in society. Haringey recognises the need to protect vulnerable people from abuse. For more information, please go to the Safeguarding Adults page.

Adult social care in Haringey provides help and support to those aged over 18 years who are vulnerable. Vulnerable people include:
- older people
- people with a physical disability, or sight or hearing impairment
- people with mental health needs
- people with learning disabilities
- people who misuse substances (such as drugs and alcohol)
- people with long-term illness
- people who need sheltered or supported housing
- carers
Children's social care is provided by the Children and Young People's Service. For further information, please go to Children's Social Care.

We offer a wide range of services, such as:
- home care and meals on wheels
- drop-in advice and support centres
- day opportunities including training and employment initiatives
- respite and residential care
- support and rehabilitation on leaving hospital or to prevent hospital admission
- help for carers

Haringey’s 2007/08 annual performance assessment of social care services for Adult Services is detailed in the CSCI Summary Report to be found in the attached files section towards the bottom of this page. Overall Haringey has shown continuing improvement in performance, in both the delivery and modernisation of social care services for Adults.
