With the weather turning colder and Christmas approaching, our online features have a seasonal feel. We take a look back over the highlights of the year for the borough, and although it may not feel like there’s much global warming around at the moment, we are also looking forward to our New Year’s resolution to make Haringey the greenest borough in London.

All of us can start off by recycling all that Christmas waste, including the tree, food waste and Christmas cards. See our feature to find out all you need to know about our recycling services over the festive period.

Christmas is a time to think of others, and I hope that all of us will take the time to keep an eye out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours. Winter can be a difficult time for older people. See our feature that gives useful tips on keeping warm and well, and information on where to turn if there’s a problem.

There’s information too about your rights when buying goods, and how to keep you and your property safe over the holiday period.

Finally, on behalf of everyone at Haringey Council may I wish you and your families all our very best wishes for a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
