The waiting is over for thousands of our students with publication of the GCSE and A Level results. And it’s good news for schools across the borough. They are celebrating their best ever set of exam results – for both GCSEs and A levels. The success of our students is at an all-time high.  More pupils gained 5+ A*-C GCSEs than ever before. And the provisional A level results for the borough’s schools show that the pass rate for A-E grades has increased from 96.7% in 2006 to 97.1%.

Ofsted inspections and academic results clearly show that in recent years Haringey schools have been making improvements. That’s a testament to the hard work of pupils, teachers, governors and parents.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their commitment.

We’re getting better but we’ll not rest on our laurels.  Everyone is determined that those improvements continue in the coming years too.

The opening of the new sixth form centre at White Hart Lane is evidence of our commitment to education.

We are also celebrating Finsbury Park gaining Green Flag status, a ringing endorsement from the Audit Commission for Homes for Haringey and what we’re doing to reduce the number of people looking for a home.

We are also also involved in a new project to help Muslim women get involved in the community.
