Dear resident,

Every year the council commissions a full scale independent residents’ survey. The results of the latest survey are now in, and you can read about some of the results in our 'Listening to you - Working for you' feature.

Overall the council is now performing better than the London average in many areas. The Listening to you - Working for you article looks at some of the top line survey results, and how we use those results to improve services.

On the environment, residents are also noticing the difference we are making through our Better Haringey programme and our plans to make Haringey one of the greenest boroughs in London.

Crime is a major concern for residents, but the good news here is that levels of concern are down by eight per cent. Our Cutting Crime in Haringey feature has details of how we are working with the police so that money coming in for local policing from the Greater London Authority is used to best effect.

Partnership is another theme this month, not only with the police but with Transport for London, which provides funding for road safety and transport improvements across Haringey. Our Keep on Moving article looks at where the money goes.

Finally, we are launching the 2008 Better Haringey awards, celebrating local people, groups and businesses working for a Better Haringey. So if you know a local green champion, nominate them now.

Leader, Haringey Council
