Dear resident,

I was proud this month to be present at two major events celebrating all that’s best about our borough.

Our business awards showed how much enterprise and entrepreneurial spirit there is in Haringey – from ring tone millionaires to master kilt-makers! Our borough is a good place to do business, and the council is committed to make it even better.

Then it was the Better Haringey awards, honouring local people, schools and businesses working for a cleaner, greener and safer borough, followed by our second annual Green Fair, attended by thousands of residents.

The council is taking the lead on the green agenda, and a big part of that is our work to improve our parks and open spaces. They really come into their own in the summer.

Parking is another big issue, where we have to take on board the fact that there are more and more cars on our roads and increasing pressure for space, as well as taking into account the interests of shops and businesses. We aim to be firm but fair, and Parking Explained feature explain our parking rules, with tips to help you avoid getting a ticket.

Finally, many of our young people have been taking exams over the past month, and I hope everyone will join me in wishing them all the best of luck as they take some deserved time off before the results come out.
