Dear resident,

Now that the weather’s beginning to get warmer, there’s no need to go anywhere else but Haringey if you are looking for a good day out.

We’ve got the Crouch End Fun Run weekend and open studios art event coming up this month, and our second annual Better Haringey Green Fair followed by the spectacular Tottenham Carnival and first-ever Lee Valley Festival in June.

May is also national museums month, so why not become a local tourist and visit our museum at Bruce Castle, voted one of the country’s top 20 hidden tourist attractions in a BBC poll. Our What’s On listing has details, along with other events across the borough.

The vibrant life of our diverse borough depends on its people, and around 16,000 people help others as unpaid carers. This month you can nominate your carer of the year, for a prize to be awarded during Carers’ Week, 9-15 June. Find out how to nominate in our Carer of the Year article.

Our Haringey young heroes awards have been launched as well. Young people often get a bad press, but I think we have fantastic youngsters in Haringey, and this is your chance to reward their achievements. See the Young Haringey Heroes article for more information.

Finally, you can win library prizes to celebrate the National Year of Reading and our Get reading in 2008 feature give details.

Also our record £9 million investment in road repair, safety schemes and other improvements now getting underway.
