A youth worker, occupational therapist, librarian, call centre worker, disabled persons’ day centre staff and a civic centre porter were among staff receiving certificates at our latest WOW Award ceremony.

The ceremony marked 2,500 nominations for excellent service by members of the public since the scheme was launched two years’ ago.

As well as awards for individual staff, certificates went to all staff at the Cranwood care home, Osborne Grove nursing home and the Winkfield day centre. One nominator for the Cranwood team said:

“We only have words of gratitude and admiration for the way in which the carers carry out an unenviable, difficult and sometimes thankless task.”

Cllr Kaushika Amin, cabinet member for community cohesion and involvement, said:

“These awards are a great way for local people to recognise excellent day to day service, and also inspire our staff to go that extra mile. They show that Haringey is full of staff who are committed to providing a high quality, personal service to the people they’re in contact with day in, day out.

“It’s fantastic that we have received nominations not only for the obvious front line services, like libraries and the customer service centres, but for staff in more specialised service areas. The awards give a real flavour of just how many services the council provides for local people.”

The WOW scheme offers customers a straightforward way to nominate staff for high-quality service, with certificates independently accredited, evaluated and awarded by the national WOW organisation.

  • Customers can nominate on forms available at council offices or on our WOW Award pages.
