Views sought over possible school expansion
Friday 10 October 2008
Residents are being asked whether they believe a popular Wood Green primary school should be expanded by Haringey Council.
The council is currently looking at options to address high demand for school places in the area and a projected continuing rise in the number of children living in the borough.
One idea is to expand Rhodes Avenue Primary School, N22, from two to three forms of entry. This would eventually increase pupil numbers from 60 to 90 in each year group.
Now the council has launched a consultation to seek residents’ views on the possible expansion, running until 28 November.
There will also be three public meetings at the school in Rhodes Avenue, on Tuesday 14 October from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and 7pm to 8pm, and on Wednesday 12 November from 7pm to 8pm, to enable people to find out more.
A newsletter outlining the possible expansion has been sent to local schools, and a more detailed newsletter to parents of children at Rhodes Avenue Primary.
In addition, the council is sending out leaflets to residents in 40 roads surrounding the school.
Any other interested party can comment by downloading the questionnaire on the Rhodes Avenue Consultation page.
Alternatively you can request a copy of the questionnaire by calling Carlene Burgess on 020 8489 3607 and once completed send to:
