Upgrading St Ann's library

Wednesday 6 August 2008

Upgrade works at Haringey Council's St Ann's library in Cissbury Road, South Tottenham, will now include full rewiring as well as the new community hall currently under construction.

The new library hall will now include a sprung wooden floor, making it suitable for community activities of all kinds. The hall is funded by the Bridge New Deal for Communities (NDC) as part of its £50 million 10 year programme regenerating Seven Sisters and South Tottenham.

The library will close on 7 August for the rewiring work, reopening in early September. A mobile library will operate on the site through this period, and local people can also use any other Haringey library.

"I hope as many local people as possible will make a date for the reopening of the library in September and the unveiling of the new hall in the autumn," said Cllr Dhiren Basu, Haringey cabinet member for leisure, culture and lifelong learning.

"This investment by the Bridge NDC and the council will ensure that local people have a top class facility at the heart of the community."
