Pools out for summer

Thursday 8 May 2008

Residents can now have a splashing time at paddling pools in the borough's parks after sunny weather prompted Haringey Council to open them ahead of schedule.

The paddling pools at Lordship Recreation Ground, N17, Bruce Castle Park, N17, and Priory Park, N8, were open to the public on Wednesday 7, and will also be open on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 May respectively in response to sunshine and high temperatures.

Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Dhiren Basu, said:

"We normally open the paddling pools in late May, but have now brought this date forward so that residents can enjoy them during the nice weather we're experiencing.

"I hope the sunshine will encourage more people to visit their local park, whether it's for a picnic, kickabout or just a relaxing break from city life. And hopefully the early opening of the paddling pools will provide yet another incentive, particularly for parents with young children."
