'Paws in the Park': dog show spectacular in Russell Park

Tuesday 7 October 2008

DogHaringey Council is hosting 'Paws in the Park' for all dogs and their owners, on Saturday 18 October, 12 noon to 4pm, at Russell Park, Maurice Avenue, N22.

Cllr Lorna Reith, cabinet member for community cohesion and involvement, said:

"This is about promoting responsible dog ownership to everyone in the borough and addressing the concerns of local dog owners and other park users. There will be basic ground rules on the day so Paws in the Park will be a fun event for everyone."

Dima Yeremenko, dog trainer from TV show 'The Underdog', will be running obedience classes that everyone can take part in as well as demonstrating with teams from the Good Boy Dog School the benefits of good training.

A highlight of the event will be flyball and agility demonstrations from the Wimbledon Whizzers, the Terrierists and the Mad Mutts, which are set to be hugely entertaining for spectators, especially when they have a go with their own dogs.

Zasman Vets will be microchipping dogs at a discounted rate and giving owners advice on how to keep their dogs happy, healthy and safe. There will also be an opportunity for dogs to be tested for the good citizenship dog tests.

There will also be refreshments and giveaways. Everyone registering their dog for any of the classes will get a 'doggie' bag full of doggie goodies, winners of classes will get prizes and a trophy will be presented to the Dog of the Day!
