Over 150 people attended the event to find out more about the Low Carbon Zone, to learn about saving energy, and take part in discussions on how best to cut carbon emissions in the area.

Opening the event, Leader Claire Kober said:

"We are really pleased that Muswell Hill has been chosen to pilot this innovative Low Carbon Zone project and I am thrilled that so many dedicated local groups have come on board to help make this successful. I am especially grateful for the significant contribution made to this project by the Muswell Hill Sustainability Group.

"This will be a truly collaborative project involving the council, residents, businesses, campaigners and community groups. We are all learning from each other in trying to greatly reduce carbon emissions in the area and helping tackle the consequences of climate change."

Residents were able to ask questions about the project and have fun with some of the carbon saving exhibits.

A consultation survey of residents within the Low Carbon Zone area is underway to find out which package of measures would most benefit those living in the area, and will run until 26 March 2010.
