Design expert Paul Finch OBE will lead the judging panel for the prestigious Haringey Design Awards 2012.
Paul is deputy chair of the Design Council trustee board and chair of the Design Council Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
He has more than 35 years experience as an architectural journalist, including as editorial director of the Architectural Review and Architects’ Journal – and was awarded an OBE in 2002 for services to architecture.
Paul will help to select the winning entries from several submitted across categories covering homes; green building; heritage, and regeneration. He will also help choose an overall winner for the awards, which recognise excellent design in developments across the borough.
Cllr Alan Strickland, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Social Inclusion, said:
“It is really fantastic news that Paul has agreed to join the judging panel for the Haringey Design Awards.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience and an eye for the very best in design – which will be essential when trying to select the winners from the high calibre entries received.
“These awards are a chance to celebrate the most innovative, interesting and attractive developments in the borough and an opportunity to highlight how good design can help make Haringey an even better place to be.”
Awards will be given for:
- Best Built Project
- Best Homes
- Best Green Design
- Best Heritage Project
- Best New or Improved Place
Nominations are open NOW and until 20 May. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 5 July. For information or to make a nomination, visit the Design Awards page.
