Harvesting talent in Tottenham
Publication date: Monday 6 September 2010
Budding stars will have the chance to prove their talent at a Harvest Festival with a difference.
The Living Under One Sun (LUOS) Harvest Festival will be a fun-packed mixture of games, gardening activities and performance – topped off with the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ style competition.
Prizes will be up for grabs for the best performers amongst both older and younger residents.
LUOS volunteers have teamed up with Haringey Decent Homes contractors Lovells to deliver the festival, with Lovells covering the costs of stage and equipment hire and talent contest prizes. They will also be laying on free face painting and a bouncy castle.
Other highlights of the day include food and drink, a raffle, give-and-take stall, and allotment displays.
The event on Friday 17 September will also coincide with the Northumberland Park & White Hart Lane Area Assembly meeting which will offer residents the chance to meet ward councillors and find out more about local services.
Cllr Anne Stennett, Chair of the Northumberland Park & White Hart Lane Area Assembly, said:
“Bringing the harvest festival, talent show and area assembly together means we’re able to offer residents the chance to get to know their local councillors and find out more about council services, while also having a really good time, watching some top entertainment, and hopefully mingling with their neighbours and making new friends.”
The festival will run from 3pm to 7pm in Northumberland Park Grove, N17. For more information, or to register for the talent show, contact senior project officer Leyla Laksari on 020 8489 2454 or 07870 157 943.
Talent show entries must be received by Monday 13 September.
Note: The event on Friday 17 September, replaces the previously scheduled Northumberland Park & White Hart Lane Area Assembly, which was originally planned for 16 September.
