Flying the flag for Armed Forces Week

The Mayor of Haringey, Cllr David Browne, today raised a flag to mark the Armed Forces Week 2012.
Cllr Browne hoisted the flag aloft outside the Civic Centre, High Road, Wood Green this morning (Monday 25 June).
The flag raising ceremony was joined by bugler Adam Mendrys, from the Royal Regiment Fusiliers Association and two swordsmen – Lance Bombardier Bateman and Gunner Dawson, both from the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
Haringey Deputy Lieutenant Major (retired) Rosemary Warne MBE, a number of retired and serving servicemen and representatives from the local police also attended.
Cllr Browne said:
"This week and Armed Forces Day on Saturday is an annual opportunity for the whole nation to show respect and recognition for the thousands of dedicated service men and women in our armed forces.
"The courage and professionalism of the regular forces and reservists guarantee the nation’s security. On behalf of Haringey, I want to say thanks to all the members of the armed forces, serving and retired."
Armed Forces Week runs this week up until Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30 June.
