Festive excitement lights up Haringey

Publication date: Friday 29 November 2013

The Christmas season is underway in Haringey with four tree light switch-on events lined up for the borough's high streets.

Lights in most of Haringey’s town centres were set to be switched on this Thursday and Friday in time for the weekend, while special events for Tottenham, West Green Road, Myddleton Road and Green Lanes have been arranged as follows:

  • Tottenham Green East: Saturday 30 November. Lights will be switched on at 5pm by Spurs ambassador Ledley King and Tottenham’s Young Poet Laureate. The switch on is part of the wider Tottenham Winter Festival, which runs from 12-6pm and includes stalls and live entertainment.
  • Green Lanes: Sunday 8 December at 5pm
  • Myddleton Road: Sunday 8 December at 5pm
  • West Green Road: Saturday 14 December at sundown

Cllr John Bevan, Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said:

“There are festive lights displays in all of Haringey’s high streets this year and I hope that residents young and old will get into the Christmas spirit, join the fun at one of the switch on events and support their local traders.”

Residents and shoppers can also enjoy Christmas light displays in Crouch End; Muswell Hill; Hornsey High Street; Wood Green High Road, and Tottenham High Road.
