Extra funding for One Borough One Future

Publication date: Tuesday 19 June 2012

Haringey Council has made more money available for pioneering projects brought forward through the One Borough One Future fund.

An extra £300,000 will be pumped into the fund thanks to savings made from the council’s IT budget.

The money brings the total for the fund – to support projects to tackle inequality; deliver changes to services and working practices; make creative use of existing resources, and offer new ways for the council to meet key priorities and community needs – to £1.5million.

The announcement comes after early figures revealed that the One Borough One Future page has been visited more than 3,000 times.  Enquiries and ideas for the fund have also been pouring in.

Cllr Joe Goldberg, Cabinet Member for Finance and Sustainability, said:

“I am proud that by making careful savings to our IT budget, we are now able to make more money available for the One Borough One Future fund.

“One Borough One Future has the potential to change the way we work for the better, deliver savings and make Haringey a more equal place for everyone.

“We know that we don’t have all the answers to the many challenges facing Haringey, and we are relying on the public to share their talent and inspiration to help make Haringey a better borough for all.

“The response so far has been fantastic and we look forward to bringing to life some of the very best ideas for a better society.”

One Borough One Future will be open for applications until 13 July.

A number of ideas will then be shortlisted for further development before final decisions are taken over which projects to take forward.

Further information on application criteria and how to apply can be found on the One Borough One Future page or by calling 020 8489 2964 or emailing 1b1f@haringey.gov.uk
