Community clear up
Publication date: Friday 12 August 2011
Haringey Council today issued a rallying cry to local residents and businesses to join them in showing the world the strength of community spirit in Tottenham.
As Tottenham High Road re-opens following last weekend’s devastating disturbances, this is a chance for people to unite in efforts to get the area back on its feet.
Haringey councillors and volunteers will be out on the streets tomorrow morning (Saturday, August 13) aiding the clear-up operation and showing support to local traders.
Anyone who would like to help is invited to come along and lend the community their backing – either by sweeping the streets, helping to clear rubbish from affected homes and businesses, or simply popping into local stores to do some shopping.
This is our chance to celebrate Tottenham’s unique strength of character and unity in the face of recent disturbances.
Those interested in taking part are invited to gather on the green on Tottenham High Road by Rheola Close, just south of the junction with Lansdowne Road, from 10.30am for an 11am start.
- Note: Tottenham High Road will be re-opened on Friday evening. Lansdowne Road, Dowsett Road and Factory Lane remain closed until further notice.
