Parliamentary Election Ballot Papers for postal voters
Publication date: Thursday 29 April 2010
A small number of ballot papers issued to postal voters for the Parliamentary election include an incorrect instruction to vote for up to THREE candidates - whereas the legal entitlement is just ONE candidate.
We are acting immediately to rectify this by replacing those faulty ballot papers and issuing those affected with a correct one.
If you have received a Parliamentary ballot paper with the incorrect instruction and still have this ballot paper, please destroy it and use the replacement one enclosed with your new ballot pack instead.
If you have already voted and posted your ballot paper back AND have voted for more than one candidate in accordance with the instructions you received, we will cancel that ballot paper. Please vote again for ONE candidate using your replacement ballot paper, sign the declaration, complete your date of birth and return to us in the envelope provided.
If you have already voted and posted your ballot paper back to us AND have only voted for ONE candidate, you can be assured that your vote will be counted in the usual way and you should destroy the replacement ballot pack.
Please note that ballot papers for the local borough election are unaffected.
Anyone who is unsure should contact the Electoral Services Team on 020 8489 2953 / 2954 / 6978.
