Monday 18 August 2008
Haringey Council's annual report to residents has now been sent to all households in the borough.
The report, for 2007/8, was distributed door to door alongside the August issue of the council's residents' magazine Haringey People.
It highlights improvements including better exam results, cleaner streets, more recycling and more parks winning Green Flag quality awards.
The report also outlines performance against the council's five key priorities and includes information on the council's budgets and financial position.
Haringey Council Leader Cllr Meehan said:
"We are also delivering value for money, with £6 million investment in priority areas like roads and pavements, efficiency savings of £8 million over the year and a Council Tax increase of just three per cent.
"We want Haringey to be a council we can all be proud of, and I am delighted that we are now rated as a good council improving well by local government watchdog the Audit Commission.
"This short report gives all residents a picture of how we have performed over the past year, and I hope local people will find it useful.
"We know there is more work to do, and we will now be working hard for more improvements over the coming year.
"Anyone with comments, questions or concerns about the council is welcome to drop me an email at leader@haringey.gov.uk"
