Try something new for Adult Learners' Week

Friday 9 May 2008

Adult Learners' Week 17 to 23 May is a chance for adults of all ages to learn something new by taking part in exciting events at no cost.

Haringey Council libraries and Haringey Adult Learning Service (HALS) have a great programme lined up, with everything from knitting taster sessions to digital photography workshops, family learning, Yoga, languages and more.

The free sessions are at libraries across the borough as well as adult learning centres.

A range of short courses is also available in the HALS summer short course programme, which runs from May to August.

Said Cllr Dhiren Basu, Haringey cabinet member for leisure, culture and lifelong learning:

"Learning doesn't stop at school, and these courses are a fantastic way to improve your skills, gain useful qualifications or simply learn something new.

"We want everyone in Haringey to fulfil their potential. I hope everyone will take a look during Adult Learners' Week to see what is on offer."

Haringey's Adult Learners' Week programme is available in libraries or at www.haringey.gov.uk/libraries_whatson. Call 020 8489 8781/2500 for more information. Summer course details and information on HALS programmes generally is also available in libraries, or see www.haringey.gov.uk/hals.
