Best ever GCSE results for Haringey

Haringey students have achieved their best ever set of GCSE results.
For the first time ever, 61% of students gained five or more A*-C grades and 42.2% gained five or more A*-C grades including English and maths.
This year's provisional results are five per cent higher than last year for both five or more A*-C grades and five or more A*-C grades including English and maths (56.2% - 61% and 37.4% - 42.2% respectively).
Over the last seven years, GCSE pass rates for five or more good grades has doubled - rising from 30.9% in 2001 to today's 61% figure.
Improvements over the last year include:
Alexandra Park:
- A rise of 21% in 5+ A*-C grades
- A rise of 12% in 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths
Gladesmore:
- A rise of 20% in 5+ A*-C grades
- A rise of 6% in 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths
John Loughborough:
- A rise of 27% in 5+ A*-C grades
- A rise of 20% in 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths
St Thomas More:
- A rise of 9% in 5+ A*-C grades
- A rise of 15% in 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths
Woodside:
- A rise of 4% in 5+ A*-C grades
- A rise of 11% in 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths
Fortismere:
- Almost half of all exam entries resulted in A*/A grades
Cllr Liz Santry, cabinet member for children and young people, said:
"These are really exceptional results - they represent a wonderful achievement.
"Both students and staff at our schools deserve tremendous credit for their work.
"The biggest gains have been made at John Loughborough and show a remarkable turn-round since high level intervention by our Children and Young People Service.
"We look forward to John Loughborough sustaining that improvement."
