feature: Get your applications in for the 2009 school year

14 October 2008

The easy online application system for Haringey school places for next year has now gone live.

Haringey parents and carers can now access the council’s online application system.

Although people can apply by submitting a paper form, the online application process is quicker and easier, and changes can be made on the application right up until the deadline date.

By applying online, parents and carers can then view the school place offer online next March, without having to wait for it to be posted to them.

Information booklets on the procedure for applying for places at both primary and secondary schools in Haringey have been distributed to schools and are available from libraries, council customer service centres and on the council’s website.

Applications for primary school students close on 7 November and applications for secondary school students close on 24 October.

Cllr Liz Santry, cabinet member for children and young people, said:

“It is important that our residents have all the correct information on our local schools and our information booklets can provide just that.

“I urge all parents and carers to start their research as soon as possible so they can make the best decision on what school would suit their needs.

“How far you live from your preferred school does affect your child’s likelihood of securing a place. It is important therefore that parents and carers study the information in the booklet about previous year’s admissions.

“We are proud of what our schools are achieving and the results that our students are accomplishing.”
