Haringey students once again celebrated an outstanding set of exam results last month.

GCSEs

Provisional results show, that for the first time ever, 61% of students gained five or more A* to C grades and 42.2% gained five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.

These results are five per cent higher than last year for both five or more A* to C grades and five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.

Over the last seven years, GCSE pass rates for five or more good grades have doubled – rising from 30.9% in 2001 to today’s 61% figure.

A levels

Provisional figures show that Haringey students also performed well in their A levels, with the pass rate for the borough at 97 per cent. This compares to the national average of 97.2 per cent.

There has been a steady rise in Haringey A level pass rates in recent years and the borough now compares favourably to the national average score.

Cllr Liz Santry, cabinet member for children and young people, said:

“These are really exceptional results - they represent a wonderful achievement. Both students and staff at all our schools deserve tremendous credit for their work.

“The biggest gains have been made at John Loughborough and show a remarkable turn-round since high level intervention by our Children and Young People Service.

“We look forward to John Loughborough sustaining its improvement.”
