Indices of Deprivation 2007

The most comprehensive measure of deprivation is the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's (ODPM's) Indices of Deprivation 2007 (ID 2007).  The main purpose of the Indices is to identify those areas which experience the greatest levels of multiple deprivation, to inform the targeting of resources.  

The ID 2007 is made up of seven Super Output Area (SOA) level 'domain indices' that relate to:

  • Income deprivation
  • Employment deprivation
  • Health deprivation and disability
  • Education, skills and training deprivation
  • Barriers to housing and services
  • Living environment deprivation
  • Crime
