E U Objective 2
The EU Structural Funds Objective 2 programme is part of the European Union's wider programme to reduce the economic inequality between the regions of Europe.
It is targeted to areas of industrial decline and those parts of Europe experiencing urban problems. Nine wards in Haringey are eligible for funding from 2000-2006. Haringey's Objective 2 area area is part of a much wider area covering the whole of the Lee Valley and the Thames Gateway.
Over all the Objective 2 areas of Lodon is worth £160 million.
The Objective 2 programme is funded by the EU through DTLR and the and the Government Office for London. In the Upper Lee Valley (Enfield and Haringey) the programme is managed by Urban Futures.
The Objective 2 programme for London is set out in the Single Progamming Document (SPD) this has three priorities:
Priority 1:
Community and Neighbourhood Economic Development is worth 10% of the programme. In Haringey the following areas have been identified as priority 1:- Northumberland Park Ward
- Broadwater Farm Estate
- The Bridge Neighbourhood Seven Sisters
- Noel Park Ward
Priority 2:
Business support and competativeness is worth 45% of the programmePriority 3:
